Spearheaded and managed explosive technological growth at GiftCertificates.com as the company earned its first $130M in revenue and raised $140M in venture/debt capital. Oversaw a $20M capital/technical operations budget. Coordinated three in-house development teams (40+ developers; 3 locations) plus two outside development firms and numerous consultants. Negotiated a 40% lease-cost reduction (Cisco; originally $3.5M) and a 6-month “no-interest” payment postponement (HP; $3.1M base-cost). Created two massively-redundant data centers; managed a multi-site 18-person IT team in support of this infrastructure. Built a 150-seat in-house call-center. Designed an automated fulfillment operation scaled to support the fulfillment of more than $500M worth of gift certificates per year—all from a single location. Led the search-for and build-out of an 80,000 sq. foot fulfillment, call-center, inventory and corporate operations center; managed 30-person facilities development team who coordinated the work of 250+ contractors.

• Developed MoneyPump, the first Internet-based “try-before-you-buy” client/server e-commerce toolkit.
• Created a technical-analysis/simulation platform for NPI Traders that validated the company’s unique trading methodologies by iterating ranged parameter-sets against multi-year bar-level pricing/volume data using self-tuning simulation frameworks.
• Created WebFlow, a centralized rights management/auditing/software workflow system that coordinates the development/test/deployment lifecycle of Anheuser-Busch’s 1200+ enterprise-grade applications in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
• Founded BrainTree, a consulting practice that specialized in strategic consulting, application development, and e-commerce. Clients included Citibank, Best Foods, DEC, Hewlett Packard, Morgan Stanley, Saks Fifth Avenue, MERCK, Continental Grain Co., MetLife, Johnson & Johnson, MCS Canon, UNISYS, Chemical Bank, Medco, Nabisco, American Express, New York Life, Smith Barney Shearson, Upjohn, among others.
• Developed CitiCentral: an internationally-deployed client/server application that facilitated Citibank’s yearly senior-level compensation management process.
• Invented a new distribution channel for Kideo.com that supported the “stealth” delivery and coordinated presentment of high-resolution video, audio and other content over low-bandwidth Internet connections.
• Led the very first team of astronomers to visually observe our “brand-new” tenth planet 2003 UB313. This singular feat required months of intense planning and analysis plus dozens of pre-attempt CCD shots and a rare visual use of the 82” Otto Struve telescope, which is sited on the darkest spot in the Continental US.
